fucked around and got a triple double

Today was a historic day for young Rajon Rondo, who recorded his first career triple double. In 41 minutes, Rondo scored 16 points, had 17 assists, and 13 rebounds. LIFE! Rick, Myself, and good friend, Stan all attended this game....and what a wonderful time it was. Three 20 year old men, sitting within 4 inches of each other for 3 hours, just cheering on the home team. Our journey began in Bedford, NH where, after feasting on a delicious fair of Tano's pizza, we went to what would become a much better game then we all expected. We did our usual routine of parking under the Garden and paying our parking fee. We arrived at our seats approximately 25 minutes before tip off and enjoyed the moving video montage of past Celtic greats and last year's championship run, the same one before every game (It never gets old). Before we knew it, it was game time. Paul Pierce started out very cold and the Pacers jumped out to an early lead, but being the superstar he is, Pierce distributed the ball to the rest of the team and didn't force up shots. This paved the way for Rajon and Ray Allen to pick up the slack. Ray ended the game with 31 points, but was overshadowed by the stellar play of Rondo. Rick is no huge fan of Rajon Rondo, he believes he brings nothing extraordinary to the table, but if he continues to play as he has the past few games, Rick says "the performance the three of us witnessed may become a story for the grandchildren". Rondo was all over the floor tonight, grabbing offensive rebounds, finding the open man, and driving to the basket when the opportunity presented itself. Nothing was forced and he played perfectly within the flow of the offense. The recent play of Rondo has been the driving force behind the Celtics current 10 game win streak. When the Celtics get this kind of production from their 4th wheel, they are nearly unbeatable. Before when people put Rondo and All-Star in the same sentence, I laughed. Now, outside of Devin Harris, I can't think of a better PG in the Eastern Conference right now. One more thing to note is that Rondo will be signing autographs at a Shaw's in my area tomorrow. My sister plans to attend, dolled up and ready to slip Rondo her number. She doesn't know it yet, but she will tomorrow morning. So what if I'm openly hoping for Rondo to be my brother-in-law?
Also overshadowed in this game was Kevin Garnett and Kendrick Perkins who both recorded double doubles. KG played one of his better all around games of the season with 26 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Pierce, despite a poor start finished the game with 16 points and 6 rebounds, a respectable line. Maybe the most amazing stat is that Kendrick Perkins did not commit a technical foul. Not only that, I don't think Perk complained about one call all night. Not bad for the man who has never committed a foul in his career. Also in an unbelievable career night, Brian Scalabrine finished with 53 points! No, not those kind of "points", I mean actual points....as in I'm pointing my finger at the screen right now. Nobody points his finger like Scal. Well, maybe Uncle Sam but that's about it. And no, Rafael Palmeiro's point doesn't count because it was the result of a bad reaction to Viagra. Performance enhancing drugs are prohibited in pointing.

Another huge storyline of this game is the continued play of Brian Scalabrine. It boggles my mind that a player so incompetent can still be on an NBA team. This incompetence is only reinforced by cheering "fans" chanting "Scal" and yelling shoot whenever he gets the ball at the three point arc. It sickens me that the greatest fans of the greatest team can still support someone who is past their prime (if he even had one) and preventing younger players from getting both time and expierence. The player that Scal hurts the most is the sensational Patrick O'Bryant. This poor kid has all the fundamentals but is refused playing time because of Scalabrine. I truely believe that Scalabrine has some weird picture of Doc and is blackmailing him with it. Something really strange like Doc wearing a leotard and a cowboy hat riding Danny Ainge around like a horse. No other excuse exists in my mind. Patrick sets great picks, always rolls to the basket and is often open, rebounds well, blocks out adequitly, and plays defense at an NBA level, all traits that Scalabrine does not possess. Unfortunately to get playing time, Patrick has to learn to camp out on the 3 point line and throw up every shot opportunity you get. He doesnt need to learn to make them, just shoot them, because in all reality Scal makes 1 every 8-9 times he shoots. Scal's point to point ratio is 10:1, a league high. That is actual finger pointing to NBA points ratio.
