Our hearts and prayers go out to Rodney Rogers and his family. Rodney was a former Celtic who was involved in a tragic ATV crash that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Rodney was acquired by the Celtics midway through the 2001-02 season in a trade that sent Joe Johnson, picks and others to Phoenix. Rodney, along with Tony Delk who was also acquired in the trade, was a big part of the Celtics Eastern Conference Finals run that year providing a spark off the bench. I still don't regret trading Joe Johnson because of Rodney. Rodney, we love you and hope you use the strength displayed on the basketball court to fully recover someday. You can do it.the Grammy nominations were announced today, and once again the music community can step back and reward the record executives for their marketing schemes last year. even though this ceremony has lost almost all credibility, i still am strangely attracted to it. i feel an obligation to educate the reader as to what is real, and what is the commercial garbage that they sold us. there are 110 categories, but i will only give my pics for the important ones. the entire list can be found here though, http://www.grammy.com/grammy_awards/51st_show/list.aspx
Record of the Year: "Paper Planes" the song was everywhere. loved by hip hoppers, alt rockers, and the top 40 listeners, and should be recognized for breaking down musical genres

Album of the Year: "Viva la Vida" this album, under brian eno's direction, showed alot of character to step out of the "parachutes" formula that gave them the fame they had expierenced since winning that first time.
*as a side note if the carter 3 wins best album then i dont know. a dark shadow will be cast upon all music, and this shadow may never be lifted. i cant wait till this album goes away for good.
Song of the Year: "Chasing Pavements" a good song on a list of bad songs, the obvious winner. the only song that is worthwhile on this list besides it is "viva la vida"
Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals: "Violet Hill" an incredible song on an incredible album
Best Hard Rock Performance: "Wax Simulacra" great song, amazingly talented band
Best Rock Instrumental Performance: "34 Ghosts I-IV" trent did amazing things with this, although zappa wouldnt be a terrible choice either
Best Rock Song: "Violet Hill"
Best Rock Album: "Viva La Vida" this is gonna be a big year for coldplay i think.
Best Alternative Music Album: "In Rainbows" a great album, although all the choices are great
Best Rap Album: "Nas" if this loses to "american gangster", "carter 3", or "paper trail" then the grammies dont care about the music and just about being relevant and popular again. it would be an incredible shame if this doesnt lose.
